Super-resolution still and video reconstruction from MPEG-coded video

چکیده
There are a number of useful methods for creating high-quality video or still images from a lower quality video source. The best of these involve motion compensating a number of video frames to produce the desired video or still. These methods are formulated in the space domain and they require that the input be expressed in that format. More and more frequently, however, video sources are presented in a compressed format, such as MPEG, H.263, or DV. Ironically, there is important information in the compressed domain representation that is lost if the video is first decompressed and then used with a spatial-domain method. In particular, quantization information is lost once the video has been decompressed. Here, we propose a motion-compensated, transform-domain super-resolution procedure for creating high-quality video or still images that directly incorporates the transform-domain quantization information by working with the compressed bit stream. We apply this new formulation to MPEG-compressed video and demonstrate its effectiveness.

A New Unequal Error Protection Technique Based on the Mutual Information of the MPEG-4 Video Frames over Wireless Networks
The performance of video transmission over wireless channels is limited by the channel noise. Thus many error resilience tools have been incorporated into the MPEG-4 video compression method. In addition to these tools, the unequal error protection (UEP) technique has been proposed to protect the different parts in an MPEG-4 video packet with different channel coding rates based on the rate...
متن کاملBayesian resolution-enhancement framework for transform-coded video
Resolution enhancement for video sequences has always been an attractive application in multimedia signal processing. “Superresolution” methods, that combine non-redundant information from a set of low-resolution images, are beginning to be applied to the most popular video compression standard, MPEG. Bayesian approaches, which are very successful for raw video, largely fail for MPEG video, sin...
متن کاملAn Integrated Interpolation-based Super Resolution Reconstruction Algorithm for Video Surveillance
This paper aims at implementing an integrated super resolution reconstruction algorithm to interpolate the missing pixels in the grid to create a high resolution image for a specific purpose. One of the most important application areas of super resolution reconstruction is video surveillance for the purpose of public security. Although, the video surveillance technology are going under tremendo...
متن کاملA Framelet-based Algorithm for Video Enhancement
Video clips are made up of many still frames. Most of the times, the frames are small perturbations of their neighboring frames. Recently, we proposed a framelet-based algorithm to enhance the resolution of any frames in a video clip by solving it as a super-resolution image reconstruction problem. In this paper, we extend the algorithm to video enhancement, where we compose a high-resolution v...
متن کاملCompressive Holographic Video
Compressed sensing has been discussed separately in spatial and temporal domains. Compressive holography has been introduced as a method that allows 3D tomographic reconstruction at different depths from a single 2D image. Coded exposure is a temporal compressed sensing method for high speed video acquisition. In this work, we combine compressive holography and coded exposure techniques and ext...
